Why People Use Mini Dental Implants
It helps to first understand the difference between mini dental implants and traditional ones. Traditional dental implants are longer and narrower. They are placed individually in each location where you have lost a tooth. If you have lost one tooth, the process is fairly quick. However, if you have lost all or the majority of your teeth, replacing them with individual dental implants would require numerous oral surgeries and a great deal of time both in the chair and in recovery.
Mini implants are shorter and wider. This makes them a good solution for anyone who does not have enough jawbone density to support traditional dental implants. Additionally, mini implants are often used to support an entire set of teeth rather than only being used for individual crowns.
For example, if you have lost all your teeth or the majority of them, you can visit our clinic for a full set of replacement teeth. We can take measurements and impressions of your mouth, which are then sent to the dental lab, where they can make a new set of teeth that are secured to a gum-like base. This part of the process is similar to if you were getting dentures. The difference is that your new set of teeth would then be sent to our office, where we can then complete the procedure. The next step involves placing several mini dental implants into your gums. Typically, four will be placed. Then, we can secure your new teeth to these mini implants. They will act like sturdy anchors to hold your teeth in place so you can bite down and chew with force and without worrying that your teeth will slip or fall out of place. With this process, you will never need to worry about being embarrassed based on what you eat or by going to a restaurant with your friends. You will also never need to worry about the inconvenience of removing your teeth, making this an ideal solution for anyone on the go.
